Here is the third cartoon portrait!

Cartoon Portrait Sample 3 v1

One new tool which I have used is under the Transparency, choose Darken and insert a % of about 30%. This will change the black color shirt to a lighter greyish tone. Same trick I used on the eyebrows.

Cartoon Faces - Second Cartoon Portrait for Blog Community

Thanks to everyone who responded and here is the second cartoon portrait.

cartoon sample 2 ver1

I’ve missed out mentioning that I will be putting up the cartoon portraits that I have done for you on my blog. However, in view of privacy, I will not post any name or any link that will connect to you unless you wish me to.

The above cartoon portrait is done using Adobe Illustrator and it does take some effort as I’m pretty amateur; below is a screen capture of the different noses, hairs and some tips on the tools used.

illustrator cartoon face sample 2 screen capture

1. Using the Gradient Mesh tool - Do check out Veerle’s tutorial on gradient mesh.

This allows for different shading to have a more realistic effect.

2. The hair is not so easy to do.. it’s not perfect I know. I have used a combination of the tools:

Under Effects-> Distort and Transform -> Roughen and then follow up Crystalline

This is after I realised that using one single effect doesn’t quite acheive the effect.

From top right, the effects are Scallop, Crystalline, Pucker and horizontally, it’s Wrinkle, Bloat and followed by the original trace.

3. Noses require some simplification in cartoon and I have tried quite a couple before deciding on the one to use.

4. I have done this initially on .svg file using an open source software but then decided to use illustrator. Unfortunately, I did not save on an .ai file (illustrator format) when I have completed and subsequently could not re-open it on illustrator. So.. well, the source file is gone but the jpeg file still survives :OP

Would you like a Cartoon Portrait?

Hi to everyone reading this blog, I’m opening up the offer to do a cartoon portrait for you for those who are shy about putting their own picture online and like a cartoon version.

You can check out these 2 links for the little that I’ve done

1st sample

Myself

For now, I only know how to do 2 types:

1 is using pen to draw

Mei

2 is using adobe illustrator

Mei sCartoon

The first type will be much faster because I’m still very new to adobe illustrator and will take quite some time to do one up. Like, I took 2 days to do up my own.

You can feel free to request, I’m not charging because I take it as a giving to blog community and also as a practice for me. First come first serve, need to send me a clear frontal picture of yourself.

If you like what I draw, then simply credit to me by linking back to CluelessClay either thru blogroll, blog entry post, picture link or cluelessclay.com beside the picture whichever is applicable for your site and purpose of use.

I may post a paypal link in future for a tip if and only if it starts to consume all my time on earth!

To have Cartoon Bread or stick with CluelessClay?

Hello Everyone,

As you probably noticed, my blog entries were on a daily basis on this blog for only a short period of time.. it’s difficult for me to produce cartoon devotionals daily and instead, I’ve gone back to focusing on my original blog CluelessClay. Like to know if you’d prefer to have this site with christian cartoon for every entry or you’d prefer a broader range of topics at cluelessclay?

Cartoon Bread 22 March 07 - God will Make the Way

god-will-make-the-way-cartoon-2a.jpg

During trying time, this song really speaks to me.

God will make the way

Where there seems to be no way

He works in ways we cannot see

He will make a way for me.

Cartoon Bread 21 March 07 - Pressing Forward

No matter how old we are

No matter what stage of life we are in

O Lord, help us to move on and

move forward

not aimlessly, but to You

Cartoon Bread 20 March 07 - Lord’s Guidance at Crossroads

lost-without-jesus-cartoon1.png

When at crossroads, we can take heart in

Jeremiah 29:11 ‘I know what I am planning for you,’ says the Lord.’I have good plans for you, not plans to hurt you. I will give you hope and a good future.’

Cartoon Bread 19 March 07 - Lord finds me Special!

everyone-is-special-to-god-cartoon1.jpg

This cartoon is inspired by the following verses:

Deuteronomy 7:6 - For you are a holy people to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for Himself, a special treasure above all the peoples on the face of the earth.

The Lord is amazing in His love, cos everyone of us is special and loved by Him.

Psalm 145:9 - The Lord is good to all, and His tender mercies are over all His works.

But that is true cos the Holy Spirit is given to all who believe and Jesus died for these people!

John 16:7 - Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

Cartoon Bread 18 March 07- Holy Ground

holy-ground-cartoon.jpg

Holy Ground lyrics goes like - this is holy ground.. we are standing on holy ground.. and I just thought that in life, we are so afraid of stepping into holes! Like the roads in China which are full of holes, I really got to thread carefully. However, another thought came to me that though we think we will drop into the holes and go to great length to avoid stepping into one, God will not let us fall.. no matter what.
